June – Beating Swimmers Hair

  1. An easy way to minimize chlorine build up on the hair is to wet the hair down before swimming. It is not necessary to use shampoo
at this time because just  by soaking the hair with clear water reduces it’s ability to absorb the chlorine while swimming.
  2. Also when coming out of the pool, rinse your hair with warm water if possible before catching more rays.
  3. Coating hair with a conditioner thoroughly before jumping in the pool also helps to reduce the hair’s ability to absorb chlorine.
  4. In tougher cases, try adding some baking soda (maybe 1 tbsp) into the Malibu shampoo. Let sit 5-10 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo without using the baking soda this time. Then follow up with the conditioner to close and reseal the cuticle of the hair.

We Hope this helps our clients to keep their locks beautiful and chlorine free  and on behalf of our entire staff here at Hairtque, have a safe wonderful summer.
Hope to see you soon.
